Go Back to A Previous Version of Windows 10 When Unable to Load Windows

"Go back to a previous version" is a special feature of Windows 10, which releases updates approximately every half year. This feature allows users to revert to a previous version within 10 days since upgrading. People who don't like the new design or function can easily go back to the old but familiar version of Windows 10. The recovery option is located in Settings > Update & security > Recovery. However, what if the computer is unable to boot normally? Is there any method to go back to an earlier build of Windows 10 when cannot load Windows system? The answer is yes. Enter Advanced Startup Menu

Besides the normal way for accessing "Go back to a previous version", people can also capture the option in Advanced startup menu, which doesn't have to work in Windows Desktop. Actually, when Windows encounters critical problems, it will automatically enter into the menu. Alternatively, we can also press F11  when powering on the computer to enter Advanced startup. The screen is similar to the following image:

Go back to An Earlier Build in Advanced Startup

Step 1. On Advanced startup menu, choose Troubleshoot.
Step 2. Click Advanced options.]
Step 3. Choose Go back to the previous build.
Step 4. Follow on-screen instruction to finish the recovery.

Notes:
   * If the recovery is failed, it is possible that the Windows.old folder, which is used to facilitate the rollback, has been removed from your computer.
* You’ll lose the changes to settings and programs installed after the upgrade. Files will be kept if everything is fine during the process.
*Make sure you have your password ready to sign into your old version if you had been using one.
